Hi there! My name is Christina Sayut :)
I’m a design enthusiast who is enjoying soaking up the sun in Florida! I spent a cold couple of years at the University of Notre Dame, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Visual Communication Design. I tacked on a couple minors to that degree, in both studio art and musical theater.
My most proud work is my senior thesis project - Kinware. Kinware is the conceptualization of a ceramics brand that focuses on bringing inclusivity to the dinner table. Each piece of tableware, wheel-thrown by me, has been altered to have design tweaks that make it more form-fitting to the hand. The elegant ceramics are able to cater to a wider range of users, with a special focus on those who have hand tremors.
The passion that I have for art and design has been a surprise to nobody. I like to joke that my love of creating began when my dad spilled some paint on my head when I was much younger. My path morphed and changed as I grew older, worrying about how I would build a life upon something so subjective. However, my time at Notre Dame helped me realize that I could pursue my passions and use my creativity to help those around me in ways that they might not even notice.
I love the illustrative side of design — hello Adobe Creative Suite! I have experience with most programs in the creative cloud, and have branched out into Figma, Maya, and Blender. My coursework has exposed me to many interesting facets of design: typography, branding, UI/UX web design, motion design, data visualization, and video art installation.
Editorial design is a particular niche of mine, as I spent two years working at Notre Dame's student-run newspaper — The Observer. I ran myself all over the artistic side of that paper, working on small graphics, creating the layout of the paper itself, and working my way up to being Graphics Editor.
As Graphics Editor, I realized that I had an untapped excitement for sports. During our football season, my life was consumed by creating "Irish Insider" covers. I would not trade my sleepless nights in the office for anything.
Personally, my favorite side-quest was when I spent two years working for Notre Dame's Campus Ministry in the role of Social Media Assistant & Content Creator. It helped me practice the concept of storytelling, and promoting a brand's core vision. In 2023, I worked with my supervisor to cultivate a new brand identity for Campus Ministry, connecting with students in a more impactful way.
Now, I spend my days teaching in an art room that is always full of laughter and exploration. I fearlessly lead four groups of middle schoolers in Visual Art and two groups of high schoolers in Digital Art. Being able to connect with students and help foster the love of art and design at a young age has been one of the best experiences of my life.
