Bathroom
Bathroom is a typeface that is based off of Restroom by Winston Scully. I found the original type specimen on Letterform Archive, and then spent the semester modeling my letterforms with the goal to create a legible typeface that carries the same funk that restroom does.
This process started with lots of sketching and trying to understand the base shapes of my letterforms. I started with small sketches done by pencil, but then I focused on creating larger letterforms using a Sharpie.
After this I took it digital, where I did lots of print tests to figure out letters and spacing!
I used feedback from these print tests to fine-tune and finalize my typeface, ending with a printed specimen that looks at all of the unique features of Bathroom.
